New Mt. Zion Deansy M. Bolden Scholarship

Event Description

Gratitude is the memory of the heart, and the smallest, good deed is better than the grandest intention. Mother Deansy M. Bolden was one whose intentions materialized into a lifetime of good deeds.  She worked with youth and children for over 50 years in New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church.  Her service did not end at New Mt. Zion; her love for children, youth and the Lord stretched beyond her home church to Local Congress No. 4, the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Association and Progressive Missionary and Education Baptist State Convention of Florida.

Mother Bolden’s work mirrored her joy in the Lord. Moreover, God blessed her with great gifts, and she shared them with many young people. Because of her ministry with young people, the New Mt. Zion Deansy M. Bolden Scholarship Fund, Inc. was established to provide financial assistance to New Mt. Zion youth and children who demonstrate academic excellence and who meet specific criteria.

New Mt. Zion Deansy M. Bolden Scholarship applications are now available online @ https://newmtzionlakelandfl.org.  You may also come by the church office during office hours. All requirements on the application must be satisfied and submitted no later than May 7, 2023.

DEANSY M. BOLDEN SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

DOCUMENTATION IS REQUIRED FOR THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Scholarship application must be received or postmarked by May 7, 2023
  2. Three letters of recommendation of which one should be from an educator and one from a community leader (Example: clergy). The third may be from other appropriate individuals other than relatives. The letters
  3. Official high school transcript
  4. An essay of approximately 300 words typed on a separate sheet that gives reviewers additional insight about you. Examples might be educational and/or career goals, hobbies, activities, and your reason for seeking this scholarship. talent and your reason for seeking this scholarship.  Include school and community work.
  5. A letter of acceptance from a college or university.
