WHO WE ARE
The New Mt. Zion Lakeland Health and Wellness Ministry was established to meet our church and community’s growing chronic health challenges at the grassroots level. The ministry comprises Christian believers from health-related professions, including, Registered Nurses, nurse practitioners, educators, public health leaders, and support staff. A primary goal is to develop educational programs to move our faith from health awareness to health engagement. The ministry’s core values and attributes are based on Biblical guidance. The founding principles include Faith and Prayer, Education and Empowerment, Advocacy and Support, and Health and well-being.
WHAT WE DO
- Provide educational literature and workshops on chronic health conditions and risks such as Diabetes, Stroke, Hypertension, and Cancer.
- Conduct a breast cancer awareness program annually in October.
- Provide CPR, AED, and First-Aid courses for ministry members.
- Monitor the COVID-19 protocols and make other recommendations as needed.
- Provide seasonal updates on the Flu and other respiratory illnesses.
- Promote health awareness and advocacy among the membership and community.
- Provide first-aid for members who become ill during a worship service.
- Partner with public health departments and local hospitals to improve the health of our community, including providing COVID vaccines, boosters, and flu vaccines.
